# Self-Trade Prevention

Spectre prevents users from matching against their own orders to ensure fair and cost-effective trading.

## Behavior

Trades between the same account are prevented. If an incoming order crosses one of your existing orders, the engine **skips** your resting order and attempts to match against the next available liquidity in the book.

* **No Fills**: You will never trade against yourself.
* **No Fees**: No trading fees are incurred for these skipped matches.
* **Resting Orders Remain**: Your original order stays open on the book and continues to provide liquidity to other traders.
